7-0 Navy among easiest schedules so far, toughest schedules remaining
Navy has had one of the easiest schedules so far, going 7-0 against the #135 schedule by our numbers.
But including today's game vs. North Texas, they're facing the #6 schedule in their last month.
That will give them an average schedule when all is said and done. Here are the top 10 remaining schedules:
Rank Rank # Team Now Full Remain Now Total 1. Purdue 91.65 197.41 105.76 25 3 2. Penn State 64.34 150.62 86.28 52 15 3. UCLA 111.26 192.58 81.32 7 4 4. Maryland 42.53 123.22 80.69 77 34 5. Florida 123.10 200.81 77.71 4 2 6. Navy 1.71 78.50 76.79 135 64 7. Northwestern 73.87 143.43 69.56 44 20 8. Oklahoma 85.82 154.37 68.55 31 12 9. Rutgers 80.95 148.09 67.14 36 17 10.Virginia Tech 55.09 121.72 66.63 59 36
The usual suspects are here, mostly from the Big Ten. Purdue, Penn State, UCLA, Maryland, Northwestern, and Rutgers are all in the top ten remaining schedules.
Florida and Oklahoma are here from the SEC; the rest of the SEC plays a weekend of "gimme" games so they aren't among the top remaining schedules. For example, Alabama plays Eastern Illinois, Texas A&M plays Samford, Georgia plays Charlotte, and Ole Miss plays The Citadel.
So that leaves two outliers. One is Virginia Tech from the ACC. The Hokies just play four tough games: Louisville, FSU, Miami, and Virginia. Three of those teams have just one loss.
Then there's Navy. The Midshipmen definitely have the most back-loaded schedule in the country, going from the #135 schedule so far to the #6 remaining schedule:
7-1 North Texas today
5-2 Notre Dame next weekend
6-2 South Florida on the 15th
7-1 Memphis on the 27th
3-4 Army on December 13
for comparison Purdue, with the #1 remaining schedule, plays Michigan (6-2), Ohio State (7-0), Washington (6-2), and Indiana (8-0).
