The first full week of action and it will be hard to top this one: Colorado 45, TCU 42.
Based on last year's teams, TCU should have beaten Colorado by 42 points (TCU did play at Colorado last year and won 38-13, equivalent to about a 32 point home win). But these aren't last year's teams: TCU lost a lot of starters, and Colorado changed out pretty much everyone in Deion Sanders' first year.
New Buffalo QB—and Deion's son—Shadeur Sanders completed 38 of 47 passes for 510 yards and 4 touchdowns. Four receivers had over 100 yards including 2-way threat Travis Hunter who also had an interception. Dylan Edwards had 3 receiving and 1 rushing touchdown.
From the first series it was clear this was a new Colorado team. They stopped TCU 3-and-out, and then marched down the field for a touchdown and Colorado led 7-0.
TCU tied it up and with their offense easily slicing through the Buffalo defense it looked like they would take control. But mistakes like an interception and missed field goal left them down 17-14 at the half.
The 2nd half was more of the first: Colorado shocking TCU with scoring drives—starting with a 75-yard-TD pass to Dylan Edwards—and TCU responding with easy scoring drives of their own. The shootout was on.
Again TCU made a crucial mistake as new QB Chandler Morris was intercepted on the goal line for the 2nd time. But on the next series the Horned Frogs took their first lead of the game, 28-24.
From there the teams traded touchdowns and TCU was up 42-38 with four minutes left. Colorado faced a 4th-and-2 when Shedeur Sanders completed a clutch pass to Edwards who took it the rest of the way, 46 yards for the score. Morris couldn't complete his own 4th down attempt for the Horned Frogs and the Buffs ran out the clock.
There was great anticipation for this game in the college football world and the hype will only grow from here. Colorado's performance exceeded anyone's wildest expectations, except maybe Deion Sanders.
