Week two has passed and it was another fairly dull showing by the Heisman favorites, especially those favored at the beginning of the season.
Johnny Manziel was an exception as he threw for 426 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another TD. Others have been quick to downgrade Manziel due to off-field issues and not starting in his team's first game, but if he beats Alabama again they'll change their tune. If Alabama wins it's definitely a big blow to his hopes of repeating.
After that things get pretty sad. Tahj Boyd, who joined last week at #4, jumps to #2 despite a rather pedestrian performance. But even pedestrian was a lot better than #3 Braxton Miller and #4 Marqise Lee managed. Boyd had a touchdown run in limited action, while Miller threw only two passes before leaving the Ohio State-SDSU game with a knee injury. His 30 passing yards topped Marqise Lee's 27 receiving yards and Lee played the whole game against Washington State in USC's loss. Therefore, Lee drops two spots, Miller remains at #3, and Boyd is lifted as he still feels the benefit of his performance against Georgia in week one. Northern Illinois' Jordan Lynch was idle.

New this week is Teddy Bridgewater; he did well in week one and added four more touchdown passes in week 2 against Eastern Kentucky. Jadeveon Clowney had a somewhat better outing against Georgia but 1/2 sack per game isn't going to win him the first pure-defensive Heisman; he falls to #7 as Bridgewater claims the #6 spot.
Next week: Alabama vs. Texas A&M is huge for Manziel's chances, and for every player on Alabama that might have a chance (QB A.J. McCarron, RB T.J. Yeldon, or WR Christion Jones).
Ohio State's Miller is questionable for next week and if he doesn't play that hurts his chances, while Marqise Lee and Clowney both need a huge game to get themselves going in the right direction. None of those three players led their team to a win last week (Miller was out and the other two lost). There is a long list of players who excelled in week 2 and will fight for inclusion on our rankings, and if the performances continue to be weak at the top then the newcomers can quickly move up.
