The SportsRatings Weekly Top 25 is a subjective ranking of the top 25 college football teams in the style of the AP or USA/Coaches poll. Our rankings properly reflect head-to-head results and give additional consideration to teams who have victories over other top 25 teams.
The top five teams all blitzed their opponents this week, leading to no change in the top 10. #1 Alabama shut out a decent Vanderbilt team, 34-0; #2 Stanford crushed Colorado 48-7; #3 Oklahoma, of course, demolished former #25 Texas 55-17; #4 Boise State absolutely dominated Fresno State 57-7; and #5 Louisiana State beat former #13 Florida 41-11. #6 Wisconsin was idle.
With #7 Oklahoma State smacking Kansas 70-28, #8 Clemson downing Boston College 36-14, #9 Oregon handling former #24 California 43-15, and #10 Illinois beating Indiana 41-20, the top ten remained the same.
The closest we came to making a change concerned Clemson, one of only two teams to have two wins over current top 25 squads. But Auburn is only #25 and Oklahoma State was so explosive last week that it's hard to justify; there will be ample time to sort out the exact positions these teams should hold. The same goes for LSU, who beat Florida; the Gators fall out of the rankings, and it's hard to move Boise State down for their performance against Fresno.

Arkansas held their spot at #11 by beating Auburn 38-14, and Michigan remained undefeated and held at #12.
Georgia Tech escaped Maryland to stay unbeaten, and jumped past Arizona State at #13. The Sun Devils beat Utah 35-14 but have a loss to Illinois. #15 Kansas State held off Missouri to move to 5-0.
Virginia Tech and Nebraska each moved up a spot; the Hokies edged Miami 38-35 and the Cornhuskers rallied to beat Ohio State 34-27. Washington and Southern Cal were idle but each moves up a spot to #18 and #19.
#20 South Carolina ran roughshod over Kentucky, 56-3, despite playing without Stephen Garcia (who was since dismissed). #21 Baylor beat Iowa State 49-26.
The namesake teams of the top football states all exit the rankings this week: Florida, California, and Texas. The Gators and Bears suffered their second losses, and Texas was obliterated by Oklahoma. Still, despite the margins, Florida and Texas have only lost to undefeated teams and are in good position to return promptly as each team plays a ranked team this weekend.
Replacing the three are undefeated Houston; North Carolina, whose only loss is to Georgia Tech; and Penn State who fell only to Alabama. Houston rolled last week, 56-3 over East Carolina, while the Tar Heels and Nittany Lions used defense to top Louisville 14-7 and Iowa 13-3 respectively. Other teams whose only loss is to a top 25 squad including West Virginia (to LSU, 47-21) and, perhaps surprisingly, Louisiana-Lafayette, who lost 61-34 to Oklahoma State. Rutgers can also be counted in this group now that North Carolina is ranked.
We kept Auburn in at #25 due to their win over South Carolina; this keeps the top 25 very solid, as no ranked team has a loss to an unranked team. This week the Tigers play Florida, who have lost only to undefeated teams Alabama and LSU.
