Boise State doesn't make the top ten despite their 627 yards against Nevada. The Broncos are 10th in non-adjusted yards, but rank 17th when adjusted (Nevada ranks 114th in total defense). Notre Dame is ranked last in total offense among all 120 Division I-A teams.
Passing Offense Yardage Averages (corrected for schedule):

10. North Texas (1-5) 430.2 [ 40] 103.7 [101] 326.4 [ 10]
Hawaii retakes the lead from Tech this week, aided by some overtime yards. The Warriors have been in two overtime games this year which pad their stats slightly, otherwise Graham Harrell and crew would be in the top spot.
Rushing Offense Yardage Averages (Corrected for Schedule):

10. Oklahoma St (4-3) 472.4 [ 14] 229.0 [ 10] 243.3 [ 48]
Hawaii ranks dead last (#120) in rushing offense, however. Likewise Navy, #1 in rushing offense, ranks last in passing offense. So far this one-dimensional-offense scheme has worked out better for the Warriors than it has for the Midshipmen. Last week's rushing leader, Arkansas, falls to #3 after being held to 67 yards by Auburn.
Total Defense Yardage Averages (corrected for schedule):

10. Arizona St (7-0) 285.7 [ 10] 87.2 [ 14] 198.4 [ 30]
Last week's #2, Boise State, falls to #13 after their 68-67 quadruple overtime win, wherein Nevada put up 639 yards of offense. Ohio State remains dominant overall, strong against both the run and pass.
Passing Defense Yardage Averages (corrected for schedule):
Rank Team Rec Total (rank) Rush (rank) Pass (rank)
1. North Carolina St (1-5) 372.6 [ 57] 247.3 [117] 125.3 [ 1]
2. Clemson (4-2) 321.6 [ 26] 172.6 [ 78] 149.0 [ 2]

5. Colorado St (0-6) 336.8 [ 34] 170.3 [ 76] 166.4 [ 5]
6. UNLV (2-5) 320.0 [ 25] 152.5 [ 64] 167.4 [ 6]
7. Kansas (6-0) 287.9 [ 11] 119.9 [ 30] 168.0 [ 7]
8. West Virginia (5-1) 280.7 [ 9] 112.2 [ 22] 168.5 [ 8]
9. Auburn (5-2) 249.0 [ 5] 78.3 [ 10] 170.7 [ 9]
10. Southern Cal (5-1) 236.4 [ 3] 65.4 [ 6] 170.9 [ 10]
Teams still aren't passing on North Carolina State; perhaps it's not just their lack of rushing defense? Hard to say. Notre Dame stays strong in their only area of competence this season. Colorado State and UNLV can also point to this stats as a bright spot in contrast to their poor records.
Rushing Defense Yardage Averages (corrected for schedule):
Rank Team Rec Total (rank) Rush (rank) Pass (rank)
1. Oregon St (4-3) 265.8 [ 7] 47.1 [ 1] 218.7 [ 50]
2. Ohio State (7-0) 207.4 [ 1] 52.0 [ 2] 155.4 [ 3]

6. Southern Cal (5-1) 236.4 [ 3] 65.4 [ 6] 170.9 [ 10]
7. Brigham Young (4-2) 241.2 [ 4] 65.6 [ 7] 175.5 [ 12]
8. Cincinnati (6-1) 329.0 [ 31] 68.8 [ 8] 260.1 [ 96]
9. UCLA (4-2) 318.7 [ 23] 71.0 [ 9] 247.6 [ 87]
10. Auburn (5-2) 249.0 [ 5] 78.3 [ 10] 170.7 [ 9]
Auburn was only 32nd on this chart before last Saturday when they prevented Darren McFadden and Felix Jones from combining for 100 yards; normally they each run for over 100 yards, so this was quite an accomplishment. Other teams had figured out the Razorbacks can't pass (ranked #109), but those other teams still weren't able to stop Arkansas' rush attack.

16. Arizona St (7-0) 146.7 38 10
17. Ohio State (7-0) 146.2 85 1
BYU remains #1 yet again. They might have a season similar to last year's, where they lost a few games early then went on a long winning streak. Notice there are five undefeated teams from #10 to #17. The other one, Boston College, is way down at #35. Hawaii is getting by on offense, while Ohio State is winning from defense. There's no question that the Warriors are getting into trouble from lack of defense, but lack of O hasn't bit the Buckeyes yet.
